Dallas – The chemical bisphenol A (BPA) was found in several food samples taken from grocery stores in the Dallas area. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the chemical, which is used in packaging for some food products and linked to health issues at high levels, was found in almost two-thirds of the samples taken.

Dr. Arnold Schecter, professor of environmental and occupational health at the University of Texas School of Public Health in Dallas, is quoted in the report as stating of the findings, “This finding of yet another toxic chemical in our food is of concern because it is one of many which we have reported this year and in previous years in U.S. food.”

More information about the study may be found in the American Chemical Society's scientific journal Environmental Science & Technology.
