Interior Minister Rehman Malik turns to Twitter after a ban in his country on Facebook.

Islamabad (WiredPRNews.com) – Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has found social networking alternatives after the enactment of a ban on Facebook in his country. As reported by Reuters, Rehman Malik turned to Twitter after not being able to use his Facebook page, following protests of images posted on the site of Prophet Mohammad, which many in the country deem offensive.

Malik is quoted by Reuters as stating of his use of Twitter, “Only a few days back I came in (as a Twitter user). I like it… There are lot of questions, are you real, are you fake?” The Interior Minister reportedly has a following of over 270 Twitter users currently.

As noted in the report, approximately 1,000 sites have been blocked in Pakistan due to posted images of the prophet.
